Agri-finance Value Chains Workshop - 1st & 2nd of July,2015 in Kampala

In two weeks time, VECO East Africa will host a workshop in Kampala to disseminate the findings of a commissioned study on Agri-finance value chain models in Uganda and share lessons learnt.

Participants will include farmer leaders, representatives from financial institutions, insurance companies, NGOs, Government ministries and representatives of apex farmers’ organisations from Uganda and Tanzania.

The Agri-finance workshop is designed to facilitate discussions among public sector administrators, development agencies, farmers’ organizations and financial institutions. It will be an interactive workshop where case studies will be presented by the organizations and their partners who are implementing various models. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their successes, challenges and lessons learnt. Recommendations will be shared on what the “required”, necessary functional elements and measurable criteria will be to form successful models for small holder agriculture value chain financing.

Everyone is welcome to share their experiences and recommendations, as well as, hear the latest on the new models and approaches in financing small holders. This way interested partners and stakeholders will be more enabled to play a significant role in the alleviation of poverty and the enhancement of food sovereignty.

It is VECO's hope, in collaboration with its partners, UNFFE and UCA, that the participants will become part of an actively engaged community that can generate productive ideas, activities and alliances, which will last after the event.
